Metabridge X: 10 Years of Start-Up Innovation

If you’ve been following BLANKSLATE Partners on social media, you know that we’ve been excited about #MetabridgeX (June 6-8, 2018) in Kelowna for months now, and it’s finally here! Metabridge is Canada’s top executive retreat, attracting start-up entrepreneurs, tech company CEOs, and venture capitalists from across Canada. Founder Steve Wandler started Metabridge in 2008 as a way to help startup entrepreneurs get access to high value talent in the Silicon Valley, and it’s turned into an annual powerhouse event.

Who gets to go to Metabridge?

Metabridge is an invite-only event, with an advisory committee evaluating every application (get a headstart on Metabridge 2019 by applying here!). You can also apply to be a Top 15 Start-Up, with the opportunity to attend for free and pitch your product to the assembled VCs and CEOs. This year, the Top 15 includes companies like Zoom.ai, Caddle, and CrowdRiff. The benefits of making it to the Top 15 can’t be overstated. Michael Brown‘s Swept was featured as a Top 15 company in 2017: at the time, they had eight employees. After raising funding thanks to the connections he made at Metabridge, Swept has grown to 25 team members in 2018, and they continue to grow!

What’s on the agenda?

Metabridge is a three day event, but it’s not all seminars and workshops!

Instead, attendees can choose from a variety of awesome small group events, like…

…a hockey game with former NHL players… 

…a helicopter ride over Lake Okanagan…

…machine-excavating…

and more! These breakout events are designed to get attendees into small, like-minded groups, sharing successes and challenges alike. There are still roundtables and workshops, of course, but Metabridge is all about the potential for connection and conversation.
